Mikveh

The mikveh is back up and running for women, including prep. COVID safety protocols such as mask-wearing are still in place.

Men may make appointments for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur tevillah by calling the office. Towels are NOT provided.

To learn about the mitzvah of mikveh, please email sarahbergermail@gmail.com . She is always happy to show people around and is keen to talk to any women who would like to know more.

The Schara Tzedeck Mikveh is located at the rear northeast corner of the synagogue building.  Entry is off the lane, behind the shul.

Hours of Operation

Women

To book an appointment click here to view the monthly calendar. As a courtesy PLEASE try to give our volunteer attendants at least 24 hours notice when calling. If you are not able to do this, you may not get your first choice of times. As always, women are welcome to request a different attendant from the one listed, but that attendant must make contact with the scheduled attendant, whose appointment scheduling takes priority. If you have any questions please call Sarah Berger at 604-288-2571.

Men

The Mikveh will be available for men to use on alternating Friday mornings between 10 am-12 pm. Each person will be given a 15 minute slot so that the Mikvah can be properly sanitized between each usage. Please enter from the backdoor of the Synagogue (not the Mikvah entrance) and someone will let you in. In keeping with the current mikveh safety policy, showers and toilets are not currently available. If you would like to make an appointment, email or call the shul's office.

Eruv

Click here to view the Eruv map.

The Eruv is checked every Friday to ensure that it is kosher for Shabbat.

You can also call the shul office at (604) 736-7607 to check if the Eruv is kosher for that week.

It is helpful to check the Eruv map to be aware of changes that may have been made that might affect you.

If you notice any construction or disruptions in areas near or around the Eruv border, thank you for reporting them to the synagogue office.

For further information or questions about the Eruv, please contact the shul office at (604) 736-7607.

Please note that the Yahrzeit begins at sundown the evening before the listed date and concludes at sundown on the listed date.

Minyan

Daily Minyan and Shabbat services resumed indoors.

In lieu of services members are encouraged to participate in our morning learning sessions with Rabbi Rosenblatt at 7:30 am weekdays and 8:00 am on Sundays. We will be announcing the name of your family member and dedicating our study to their merit.

Yahrzeit Lamp

The Yahrzeit candle should be lit at sundown, at the beginning of the Yahrzeit. It will burn throughout the following day. When a Yahrzeit coincides with Shabbat you light the Yahrzeit candle on Friday afternoon before lighting the Shabbat candles. If the date of the Yahrzeit follows Shabbat or Yom Tov then the memorial candle should be lit following the Havdalah time/after candle lighting for Yom Tov.

Study of Torah

It is customary to learn Torah on the Yahrzeit day in memory of your dear one, if you want to have a class dedicated to the memory of your beloved one or to sponsor class or program please contact the office at 604-736-7607.

Charity

It is an age-old custom to give to Tzadakah (charity) in memory of a dear-one. Click here to make a donation in memory.
